Travel to Morocco from the UK: Flights, Visas and Practical Planning

Getting to Morocco from the UK is mostly a question of which airport suits your trip. This guide uses the UK government’s entry advice, Morocco’s official visa checker and ONDA’s flight board. For budgets see the Morocco travel cost guide.

Sources checked 2026-10-23: the UK government’s Morocco travel advice (gov.uk), Morocco’s official visa checker (acces-maroc.ma), the airports authority ONDA’s live flight board for Marrakech Menara, Royal Air Maroc’s UK page, and Bank Al-Maghrib’s reference rates. Flight schedules change by season, so check the airline for your dates.

Entry rules for British passport holders

The UK government’s advice says you can visit Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days for tourism. Morocco’s own checker at acces-maroc.ma gave the same result for a UK ordinary passport and a tourist trip: no visa and no AEVM travel authorization. We found no Moroccan page that states the 90 days directly, so the UK page is our source for that figure.

  • Passport validity. The UK page says your passport must have an expiry date at least 3 months after you arrive. The US State Department advises 6 months for its own travelers, so leave a margin.
  • Damaged passports. The UK page warns that damaged passports have led to refused entry.
  • Entry stamp. The UK page says border officials should stamp your passport on arrival, and that some travelers had trouble leaving without the stamp.
  • No return ticket rule found. The UK page does not list a return ticket or proof of funds as a requirement, though immigration can ask where you are staying.
  • Staying longer. An extension must be requested at a Moroccan police station.

The full rules, including the e-visa for other nationalities, are in the Morocco visa guide.

Flights from the UK

There is no single official route list, so here is what we could confirm.

A passenger jet descending over Moroccan hills toward an airport

Royal Air Maroc shows these UK routes on its booking page: Casablanca to London Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow, Casablanca to Manchester, Tetouan to London Gatwick and Rabat to London Gatwick.

Direct flights landing at Marrakech. ONDA’s live arrivals board for Marrakech Menara on 23 October 2026 showed flights from London Gatwick (easyJet and British Airways), London Stansted, London Luton (easyJet), Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow, with Jet2, TUI and Ryanair group codes among them. That is a one-day snapshot, not a schedule.

We could not confirm current UK routes to Agadir, Tangier or Fes from an official page, so check the airline sites for those airports.

Money

At Bank Al-Maghrib’s reference rate on 22 October 2026, 1 GBP was 13.121 MAD, so 100 MAD is about 7.62 GBP. The dirham is a closed currency, and most travelers take dirhams from an ATM in Morocco. Our currency guide has the details and the rules on carrying cash.

Winter sun or city break?

The WMO monthly averages (1991-2020, supplied by Morocco’s national weather service) show why many UK visitors choose Agadir in winter. Its average daily highs are 22.1 C in December, 21.1 C in January and 22 C in February, with lows of 10.1, 8.4 and 10.2 C. In Marrakech the January average is a high of 19.1 C and a low of 5.9 C. Check a forecast before you book, since averages hide cold evenings and rainy days.

Planning the trip

Pick the shape first, then the flight. A few days in Marrakech is the simplest start. A longer trip can link Marrakech, Fes and the north by train, with times and prices in getting around Morocco. The Morocco itinerary turns that into a day-by-day route.

Before you fly

  • Check your passport expiry date and its condition. The UK page warns that damaged passports have led to refused entry.
  • Choose the airport from the table above, then check that airline for your dates.
  • Get your entry stamp, and keep proof of where you are staying in case immigration asks.
  • Take dirhams from an ATM in Morocco rather than looking for them abroad.
  • Check a forecast for your dates, since winter evenings can be cold even in the south.
