Remote Work Morocco: Cities, Internet and Coworking

Remote work Morocco is possible for a few weeks or months, but the rules and the internet depend on the city and on your visa. This guide compares Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Essaouira and the Agadir coast, lists reported coworking prices in MAD and EUR, and explains what we could and could not confirm. For costs beyond the desk, see Morocco travel cost.
Sources checked on 6 November 2026: coworking operator listings (Regus, workin.space pages for CWC Hub, Atlaspeak, Noqta Space and Manzili) and several digital-nomad guides. Many of those guides are blogs with figures that do not match, so we give ranges and say when something is only one source’s claim. 11 MAD is roughly 1 EUR.
Remote work Morocco at a glance
| City | Suits | Reported desk price |
|---|---|---|
| Casablanca | Business, fast fiber, big city | No monthly price found (Regus lists 18 locations) |
| Rabat | Calm capital, offices | Regus monthly plans from 1,390 MAD (126 EUR) |
| Marrakech | Lifestyle, many coworking spaces | About 1,000 to 1,800 MAD a month (91 to 164 EUR) |
| Essaouira | Slow pace, wind, small town | Hot desk about 1,360 MAD a month (124 EUR) |
| Agadir coast | Beach, surf, quiet | Tamraght hot desk about 1,200 MAD a month (109 EUR) |
| Tangier | Northern gateway, Europe nearby | Regus day desk from 50 MAD a day (5 EUR) |
The catch is that figures come from operators and blogs, many of them undated. Treat the table as a starting point and ask for a written quote.
Visa and the right to work
Several guides say Morocco has no digital nomad visa, and that many nationalities can stay visa-free for 90 days. One guide adds that an extension is not guaranteed, and another notes that a tourist stay does not automatically give the right to work remotely. Longer stays generally need a residence permit. We found no official page that sets out a remote-work route.
Check your nationality’s rules on our Morocco visa requirements page and with the Moroccan consulate before you plan a long stay. This is general information, not legal advice.

Internet speed and reliability
Reports differ. One guide puts average download speeds at 50 to 100 Mbps in Marrakech and Casablanca, while another test reports an average of 52 Mbps down and 18 Mbps up. Several sources say Casablanca and Rabat have the most reliable fiber, and that the old Marrakech medina relies more on 4G because of its dense layout.
- Ask your host for a speed test and whether the line is fiber or ADSL before you book.
- Keep a mobile SIM with data as a backup. Maroc Telecom and Inwi are the main providers named by one guide.
- One 2026 guide warns about restrictions on internet calling apps. We could not confirm it in other sources, so test your video calls on arrival, ideally on both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
The downside is the medina. A charming riad can have slow Wi-Fi, so ask for proof before you pay for a month.
Coworking spaces and reported prices
| Place | Offer | Reported price |
|---|---|---|
| CWC Hub, Marrakech | Hot desk or dedicated desk | 1,000 or 1,800 MAD a month (91 or 164 EUR) |
| Atlaspeak, Marrakech | Open space desk or private office | 1,500 or 3,500 MAD a month, excluding charges |
| Noqta Space, Essaouira | Hot desk | 1,360 MAD a month (124 EUR) |
| Manzili, Tamraght near Agadir | Hot desk | 1,200 MAD a month (109 EUR) |
| Regus, Tangier | Day desk | From 50 MAD a day (5 EUR) |
| Regus, Rabat | Monthly office plans | 1,390 to 3,390 MAD (126 to 308 EUR) |
Several listings show prices excluding VAT, and Regus prices are based on its website with contract terms that vary, so the real price may be higher. Ask what is included, such as meeting rooms, printing, a locker and opening hours.

Which city fits which routine?
- Casablanca: the business city, strong fiber reports, a big choice of cafes and offices, but less leisure time. See the Casablanca travel guide.
- Rabat: calmer, with government offices and good fiber reports. See the Rabat travel guide.
- Marrakech: the most coworking spaces in our sources and a strong food and leisure scene. See the Marrakech travel guide.
- Essaouira: slower and windier, good for focus. See the Essaouira guide.
- Agadir and Taghazout: beach and surf breaks between calls, see the Agadir guide and the Taghazout guide.
- Tangier: close to Europe by ferry, see the Tangier travel guide.
Time zone matters for calls with a team abroad. Check the current Moroccan offset against your colleagues before you commit, because it has changed in recent years.
Working from a cafe or riad
Many cafes tolerate a laptop for a few hours if you keep ordering, but few advertise power sockets or fast Wi-Fi. Pick one with a good review about internet and bring a charger and a travel adapter. Daytime heat in summer can push you indoors, see Morocco weather.
For a month-long stay, a furnished apartment with fiber is often a better workspace than a riad. Our Morocco travel tips cover money, scams and etiquette that matter on a longer stay.

Money, SIM and everyday setup
- Money: cash is still common for small payments, see Morocco currency and money.
- SIM: buy one at the airport or in a shop with your passport, and keep it as backup for your work Wi-Fi.
- Insurance: check your plan covers a long stay, see Morocco travel insurance.
- Taxes and work permits: ask a professional, because rules depend on your employer and country.
