Morocco Weather by Season: What to Expect

These are the official monthly averages for eight Moroccan cities, side by side. Use them to compare places, then pick your season in our best time to visit Morocco guide.
Source: World Weather Information Service (WMO), worldweather.wmo.int, monthly averages for 1991-2020 supplied by Morocco’s national weather service, checked 2026-10-23. Figures are averages across 30 years, not forecasts. The dataset has nine Moroccan cities. We use eight here, and Essaouira, Chefchaouen and Tetouan are not in it, so we give no official table for them.

What the numbers show
- Hottest: Errachidia (Jul 39.5 C), Ouarzazate (Jul 38.8 C), Marrakech (Jul 37.7 C), Fes (Jul/Aug 35.1 C).
- Coldest nights: Ouarzazate (Jan 1.8 C), Errachidia (Jan 2 C), Fes (Jan 3.7 C), Marrakech (Jan 5.9 C).
- Wettest by yearly total: Tangier (673 mm), Rabat (522 mm), Fes (488 mm). Driest: Marrakech (221 mm), Errachidia (136 mm), Ouarzazate (115 mm).
- Agadir stays mild all year: its highest monthly average high is 27 C and its lowest is 21.1 C.
- The desert towns have the widest swing between day and night. Errachidia averages a 39.5 C high in July and a 2 C low in January. Errachidia is in the same region as Merzouga but is not Merzouga, which is deeper in the desert and may be more extreme, so treat it as a guide.
Reading the tables for a trip
Averages are easier to use with a few examples read straight from the tables above (average high, average low, rain for the month).

- Marrakech in April: 25.7 C high, 12.4 C low, 26.3 mm of rain.
- Marrakech in July: 37.7 C high, 20.6 C low, 2.2 mm of rain.
- Fes in August: 35.1 C high, 18.3 C low, 4.9 mm of rain.
- Agadir in January: 21.1 C high, 8.4 C low, 31.6 mm of rain.
- Tangier in November: 20.2 C high, 12.3 C low, 116.9 mm of rain, the wettest month in the dataset.
- Errachidia in January: 15.9 C high, 2 C low, 10 mm of rain. It is the nearest official table to Merzouga, not Merzouga itself.
As a simple filter of our own, we kept the months where the average high is between 18 and 30 C, the average low is 5 C or above and the monthly rain is 40 mm or less. This is a rough comfort rule, not advice, and your own tolerance for heat or cold may differ.
| City | Months that pass the rule |
|---|---|
| Marrakech | Jan to May, Oct to Dec |
| Fes | May |
| Rabat | May to Sep |
| Casablanca | Apr to Sep |
| Tangier | May to Sep |
| Agadir | Jan to Oct |
| Ouarzazate | Mar to Apr, Oct to Nov |
| Errachidia | Mar to Apr, Oct to Nov |
Fes passes the rule only in May because its winter and spring months are wetter than 40 mm. Agadir passes almost all year, which matches its mild temperature range. Remember that a filter on averages hides single hot or rainy days, so check a forecast before you go.
How to use this
Use these tables to compare cities, then read our best time to visit Morocco guide to choose a season for your kind of trip. For clothes, see the packing list, and for a December trip the Morocco in December guide. Check a forecast a few days before you travel, since single days can differ a lot from the average.
